By J.J. Hudson
One doesn’t often get the opportunity to help make a dream come true;
yet, on a daily basis, there are people working to turn dreams into reality.
These people are engineers, designers and builders.
PACLAND, a growing full-service
development consulting services and engineering firm, is adding to its dream
team.
You may not have heard of PACLAND, but the firm may have played an important
role in planning and constructing the streets you drive on or the store where
you bought your most recent quart of milk.
“Our employees are committed to helping our clients create and realize
their visions,” said Sean Dixey, PACLAND’s director of human resources. “Our
firm is looking to grow to better serve the needs of clients up and down the
West Coast.”
PACLAND seeks to hire motivated, passionate individuals
for positions in their Seattle, Bellevue and Olympia offices:
• Project managers to manage commercial and residential development projects:
These positions require
experience in civil engineering, including a bachelor-of-science degree, and
certification as a professional engineer
(PE).
• Computer-aided design (CAD) technicians and designers to produce site
plans and technical drawings for site
development projects: Familiarity with Auto CAD is essential, as is experience.
• Project engineers to be responsible for technical calculations, reports
and the design and management of site
and transportation development projects: These positions require experience
in civil engineering, a B.S. degree and
PE certification.
• Design engineers to work with project engineers and project managers
to make technical calculations, write
reports and design and coordinate site and transportation development projects:
These positions require some
experience in civil engineering and a PE license or engineer-in-training certification.
“We
work on a full spectrum of private development projects, such as retail development,
office development, residential development, transportation and industrial,” Paul
Manzer, firm associate and Bellevue office manager, explained.
The Bellevue
office employs nine and Manzer hopes to hire another seven this year.
“Our
office is new and the energy level is high. As we grow, it’s a good platform
for anyone wanting to launch a new career,” he noted.
Qualified engineers
and designers are much sought after, according to Bob Jewell, PACLAND firm
associate and Olympia
office manager. “The Northwest is where the demand is.”
Manzer
agreed: “It appears there is a shortage, especially in the hot development
market, where demand for engineers is high. The number of engineers graduating
from universities is on the decline. Sooner or later the two (supply and demand)
are going to run into each other.”
PACLAND offers competitive pay to
attract quality team members. A full benefits package includes 401(k); health,
dental,
vision, and life insurance; and performance-based rewards.
“Any employee, whether it be administrative support staff or an experienced
project manager, who has gone above and beyond
– who has done something that’s measurable, notable – we
make a real effort to recognize and reward,” Dixey emphasized.
Job candidates can more find detailed job descriptions and requirements and
apply at www.pacland.com. They can also call the office managers at each office.
The Olympia office is particularly interested in candidates who have experience
in transportation engineering.
